A month in my mind... May 2022

May is always a busy month as it was mine and my mum’s Birthday, we are only 3 days apart. It wasn’t a big Birthday for me but my mum turned 70 so we had a lovely weekend celebrating both our birthdays. I am still busy keeping up with the garden and also all the planning for the new design. We are now at the stage where we need to work out how we can make it happen financially, playing the lottery and looking for a money tree are high up on my lists at the moment!!

I hope you enjoy seeing what I got up to in May 2022, with client work, my own personal work and things that have inspired me.

A month in my mind…
Client Work

May has been a lovely month of client work. I am extremely grateful for all the projects I get to work on. This month I have worked on a fun new styling for The Lily Mae Foundation’s Podcast called ‘Still Parents’ which you can see below, I have also been learning about Reels and how they can support your business and how they are brilliant fun and fairly addictive they are. Other projects I have been involved with but sadly can’t share is an awards document for Isola and an events brochure for a collection of 5* Hotels.

Below are two pieces of client work from May.

Project: Story template design

One of the main fundraising events the charity holds is their Annual Balsall Common Fun Run. I have been putting a 3 month plan together for all the Social Media. I have also started looking into using Reels as part of the marketing for the charity, which I am thoroughly enjoying.

Kat produced the most beautiful pattern designs. They are both absolutely amazing, thank you! Again, even better than I could ever have imagined, you would not believe my squeals of excitement when they came through! I would not hesitate to recommend her.

Illustrations (doodles), Personal Work

Learning

I love learning new ways to create artwork on Procreate and EveryTuesday never disappoints to bring easy to follow tutorials. This tutorial focused on creating repeat patterns in Procreate. Repeat patterns are so lovely to incorporate into your business especially if you are a product based business.

How do you like your eggs in the morning?

Using my new knowledge

Creating my own pattern in procreate from the knowledge I have gained. The colour palette has been selected from a photo of Forget-Me-Nots.

A month in my mind…
What makes me tick

I love keeping notes of things that excite, inspire and set my world on fire, whether thats a magazine designed beautifully, podcasts, beautiful packaging, or a colour that catches my eye.

Below are things that inspired me last month.

Left image: I stumbled across Word Play Clay on Instagram and absolutely loved the play on words for each item created totally my sense of humour :) I am waiting for a couple of items to come back in stock.

Middle image: Lunchlady magazine a gorgeous read packed full of interesting articles about parenting, things to do with your children, recipes and more. I also love using this magazine for inspiration for layouts and styling for projects for my own work and client work.

Right image: RHS Malvern Flower Show a little tick off my bucket list, next stop Chelsea Flower Show 2023. A day of taking in flower after flower and all the colours nature has to offer, I was in my total element. Geums will definitely be forming part of our garden the pop of colour they offer is stunning.

Do you have a project in mind?

If you like what I get up to and think that I would be a good fit for your business, I would love to hear from you whether it is for Design, Illustration or GIF creations.
